FAQ: Glossary of Abbreviations

.00, .01, etc. - The first two digits of the serial number from the back of the packaging of a Star Wars toy. Sometimes used to differentiate between different versions of a figure.

 

ANH - A New Hope. Episode IV in the Star Wars saga. The first Star Wars movie that was released, originally referred to simply as "Star Wars".

 

AOC - Attack of the Clones. Episode II in the Star Wars saga. Also abbreviated as "AOTC".

 

c-1, c-2, etc. - A scale of one to ten used to rate the condition of an item. C-1 is the worst possible condition, and c-10 is the best possible condition. Read more about conditions on my Trading and Collecting FAQ.

 

EP I - The Phantom Menace. Episode I in the Star Wars saga. Also refers to a line of Hasbro toys released from 1999 to 2000 featuring items from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

 

EP II - Attack of the Clones. Episode II in the Star Wars saga.

 

ESB - The Empire Strikes Back. Episode V in the Star Wars saga. Also abbreviated as "TESB".

 

EU - Expanded Universe. Generally refers to anything that exists in the Star Wars universe but does not appear in one of the movies. Also refers to a brief line of Kenner toys in 1998 that featured various Expanded Universe characters.

 

MIB - Mint In Box. An item (usually a large item like a vehicle or playset) that has never been removed from its box. This does not imply that the box is mint, however. Occasionally, this may be used to refer to a mint item that has been put back into an opened box.

 

MIMB - Mint In Mint Box. An item (usually a large item like a vehicle or playset) that has never been removed from its box, with the box being in mint condition.

 

MOC - Mint On Card. An item (usually a figure) that has never been removed from its blister-card packaging. This does not imply that the card is mint, however.

 

MOMC - Mint On Mint Card. An item (usually a figure) that has never been removed from its blister-card packaging, with the card being in mint condition.

 

MOTDS - Masters Of The Dark Side. A 2-pack of figures, released in 2000, including Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

 

NJO - New Jedi Order. A series of novels describing the events in the Star Wars universe 21 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.

 

POTF - Power of the Force. A line of Kenner Star Wars toys released in 1985. Items from the Power of the Force line generally fetch a higher price than other vintage collectibles.

 

POTF2 - Power of the Force 2. A line of Kenner/Hasbro Star Wars toys released from 1995 to 2000. Although the cards for these figures only read "Power of the Force", the "2" is commonly added to the name to differentiate them from the POTF figures from '85.

 

POTJ - Power of the Jedi. A line of Hasbro Star Wars toys released from 2000 to 2002. POTJ toys encompassed the classic trilogy (ANH-ROJ) as well as Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

 

ROJ - Return of the Jedi. Episode VI in the Star Wars saga. Also abbreviated as "ROTJ".

 

SOTE - Shadows of the Empire. An official book, game, and toy tie-in, released in 1996, relating to the story of what happens between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

 

TPM - The Phantom Menace. Episode I in the Star Wars saga.

 

x2, x3 - Indicators of an item's quantity. For example, "x2" means there are two of something, "x3" means there are three of something, etc.
